Leicester City10/11/08 - 5-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT DATE CONFIRMED

The date for the Melbourne inter-supporters' club tournament has been set for Sunday 30 November at 12:30pm. If you are interested in playing for the Foxes side, please contact Justin.

Please click here for information on the tournament.

Leicester City19/09/08 - 5-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT

As relegation to League One has left us all with no televised matches so far this season, we have found something else to keep us amused.

In November, the Mebourne Celtic Supporters Club will host an Inter-Supporters Club Football 5-A-Side Day. In the lead up to this, Victorian Foxes will be training with them to sort out who's who.

The next kickabout day is Sunday 28th September at 2pm at Albert Park - see events for more details. This is the same day as the Melbourne v Queensland match, so those coming in for that are able to kill two birds with one stone.

Since Fox Sports do not screen League One matches, when (and if) we finally get a match, the option of an internet stream at a pub is open to us - watch this space.

Leicester City30/04/08 - TELEVISED GAME - STOKE CITY v LEICESTER

The most vital game of Leicester's season will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 this Sunday night, 4th May from 10:30pm AEST (11pm KO).

Horrible consistency this season has left Leicester just a point above the drop zone - we need to equal or better Southampton's score against Sheffield United else we play League One football for the first time in our history. Join with other Foxes in your state to watch this vital game, and give your all to the Foxes (and the Blades!!)

The flag will be up high in Victoria at the Charles Dickens Tavern, 290 Collins Street in the Melbourne CBD, between Elizabeth and Swanston, and near Flinders St station.

Leicester City29/10/07 - TELEVISED COLCHESTER v LEICESTER GAME THIS SUNDAY

The Colchester game will be a delayed broadcast this Sunday morning 4th November at 10:30am (AEDST) on Fox Sports 1.

Victorian Foxes will be meeting at the Charles Dickens Tavern, see Vic events.

Leicester City26/09/07 - SCUNTHORPE v LEICESTER BROADCAST, VIC EVENTS UPDATED

Fox Sports has confirmed that the upcoming Scunthorpe v Leicester fixture will be a delayed broadcast on Sunday 21st October at 7pm.

Please check the events in the lead up to the game to see what fans in your state will be up to. Victorian events have been updated.

The schedule has been updated to include the additional Wolves v Leicester fixture in December.

Leicester City6/08/07 - SEASON SET TO BEGIN, FOX SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP COVERAGE

Leicester will play their opening fixture this Saturday, v Blackpool at midnight AEST.

City Boss Martin Allen recently acquired two high profile signings from Birmingham City in Stephen Clemence and DJ Campbell. Clemence was also recently named captain.

On the Australian coverage front, there are clashes of kick-off times for the Premier League and Championship games being played on Saturday evenings in England.

For the first three weeks of the season, the selected CCC games will be shown on DELAY on Sunday afternoon/evenings - see updated schedule.

From September onwards, CCC games will be shown LIVE when they do not clash with Premier League fixtures.

Leicester City5/07/07 - ANOTHER TV MATCH CONFIRMED, TWO MORE ON BOARD

The Leicester v Cardiff Mon Nov 26 match has been added to the Sky schedule, which will kick off here on the Tuesday morning at 7am all being well.

Signings number eight and nine have come through, with Republic of Ireland winger Jonathan Hayes from Reading, and a major signing in Iranian international winger Hossein Kaebi from Persepolis FC, who has gained 50 caps for his country at the age of 21.

Leicester City28/06/07 - NEW BRANCH, NEW SIGNING

We are pleased to announce to North Queensland fans that Steve Mackaness contacted us offering to help in organising a Cairns based supporters group.

Check out Steve's profile on the fan board. If you'd like to have your profile posted, please send it in!

Other areas of the site have also been updated in preparation for the new season.

In other news, Leicester has made a seventh signing in Watford defender James Chambers.

Leicester City25/06/07 - EXCITING NEW SEASON LOOMING, TWO GAMES CONFIRMED ON SKY

Well this time last season Foxes fans were biting their nails as they went into an uncertain season, which proved to be one of the most uncomfortable since the Pleat season of 1991.

Nevertheless, City survived and now the tables have turned going into the 2007-08 season - we have a focussed Chairman, and a new manager with a vision in Martin Allen. We have signed 6 new promising players at the time of writing.

Furthermore, Australian fans will be happy to hear that two games have been confirmed on Sky Sports: Scunthorpe v Leicester on Saturday 20 October (kick-off 5.20pm local British time), and Colchester v Leicester Saturday 3 November (kick-off 5.20pm).

Fingers crossed that these games will be reflected on Fox over here. Watch this space!

Milan Mandaric13/2/07 - MILAN MANDARIC OFFICIAL STATEMENT

"It is an honour and a privilege that the shareholders have accepted my offer to take control of Leicester City Football Club.

I would like to extend my wholehearted thanks to the shareholders for their immense trust and support as we now embark on a new era in the life of the club.

It goes without saying that I have untold respect for the former custodians of this club who stepped in at time when it's very future hung in the balance.

I am under no illusions that this is a massive challenge and my primary aim is to take a club that has immensely underachieved in recent years back to its rightful place in top-flight football.

I will apply immense experience, enthusiasm and financial support to ensure we achieve our goals but it's important to point out that success will only be achieved if unity prevails throughout the club." ...

Rob Kelly11/2/07 - SIGNINGS, MANDARIC TAKEOVER

Rob Kelly completed three eleventh hour signings during the transfer window, as well as an additional loan during the following week, while one player made his exit.

Leicester have also recorded their first Championship win since Boxing Day, with a 2-0 away win over Ipswich. The relegation battle is heating up for the bottom six teams with only 4 points separating them.

There has also been some changes at the club with the announcement of the resignations for chairman Andrew Taylor and director Greg Clarke on Thursday February 1st. Deputy chairman Jim McCahill is undertaking the chairman's role for the time being.

The Mandaric deal is still plodding along with both parties insisting the deal will go through soon. A statement is expected within days.

Leicester City20/1/07 - COMEDY OF ERRORS

In the latest chapter of the Leicester v Birmingham saga, the match has been postposed after gale-force winds blew off a nearby roof and debris was scattered around the Walkers. Read it here.

A rearranged date for the game will be advised in due course.

At this stage we don't know whether the shifted game will still be televised, but personally I'm not hopeful.

This could also mean the club will lose its television monies from the game.

Leicester City17/1/07 - VIC VIEWING CANCELLED

Notice to all Victorian supporters

Due to the reschedule the Charles Dickens has advised us they will not be staying open for the game.

Other city based pubs that would show it will not be open either.

Hopefully we can pull something from the FA Cup replay overnight to make up for this disappointment. Hope you all find a comfy couch somewhere to watch the game!

In other news, Milan Mandaric expects to be in charge before the end of the week. Read the latest report here.

Leicester City9/1/07 - CHANGE OF DATE/TIME FOR BIRMINGHAM CLASH

Due to Leicester's 3rd round FA Cup replay against Fulham, the Leicester v Birmingham game has been moved to Saturday evening in the UK, which clashes with Man City v Blackburn.

Fox Sports will now show the match straight after the EPL game, which is a good outcome as it was possible Fox could have scrapped it altogether due to the clash.

We will now be meeting at 6.15 AEDT, Sunday 21st January.

In other news, the revised offer made by Milan Mandaric has been given the green light by the club's board, and following the shareholders' vote on the bid the Serbian millionaire expects to be in charge in as soon as a week. Read the report here.

Leicester City1/1/07 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!

It's the start of a new year, and the opening of the transfer window! While Milan Mandaric's takeover has not been completed in time to take full advantage of this period, the deal appears to still be on the table.

Despite rumours of the takeover falling through, Mandaric has made a revised offer after an examination of the clubs' books revealed a poorer financial position than was previously thought. Read the report from the Leicester Mercury.

We have the televised game of Leicester v Birmingham in three weeks' time - contact the relevant person to see if people in your state are meeting for the match, or check the events.

Leicester City15/11/06 - VIC EVENTS UPDATED, MANDARIC'S BID FOR THE CLUB

Our meetup before the MVFC v CCM game in Victoria was so enjoyable we've decided to do it again, this time for a high profile match against Sydney - see here!

As long as you haven't been living under a rock, you would have heard that Milan Mandaric, the former Portsmouth chairman, has placed a bid for Leicester. The amount of the bid is as of yet undisclosed, although media circles are using a figure of £25m.

The initial reception of this news was welcomed by the majority of LCFC fans considering Milan's performance at Portsmouth. However, Mr. Mandaric himself has also allayed certain fears with amiable media interviews.

On radio Leicester recently he stated "I would not be interested in anything else but that stadium to belong to football club," relating to the financing of the stadium. How this relates to dollar terms is yet to be revealed. Milan also confirmed that shareholders will get 100% of their investment back.

It won't be long before the fans know the ins and outs of the bid. This Saturday morning before the Preston match, there will be an emergency general meeting where the shareholders will vote on the bid.

Needless to say it's exciting times for the Foxes!

Leicester City23/10/06 - VIC EVENTS UPDATED, LEICESTER ON SKY

Events in Victoria have been updated, click here for the latest.

In other news, the official site has just announced that Leicester's January match against Birmingham City will now be played on Friday, January 19 to accommodate the Sky TV cameras.

Given that Sky matches are reflected on Fox over here, if the current consistency continues it looks as though we will have a live match to rally around. See updated schedule.

Foxes at Elland Road18/10/06 - LEEDS UNITED 1 - 2 LEICESTER CITY

City have recorded their first away win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Leeds at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

A great shot by Tiatto just short of the half hour mark put the Foxes 1-0 up after a great display from the visitors, the assist coming from new signing Andrew Welsh.

Leeds were down to 10 men on 55 minutes as Matthew Kilgallon was given a straight red card after a serious foul brought Hammond to the ground.

Several shots came dangerously close to finding City a second goal, but it wasn't until Josh Low fed the ball to Hume on 81 minutes that the Canadian international sent the ball past Leeds keeper Neil Sullivan to bring the score to 2-0.

A late consolation goal from Paul Butler wasn't enough for the home side, despite the visitors being forced to defend deep in the final minutes of the game.

Crystal Palace also lost 2-0 at home to West Brom, Palace being the visitors to the Walkers Stadium this Saturday.

Foxes take on Saints15/10/06 - LEICESTER CITY 3 - 2 SOUTHAMPTON

A Richard Stearman header sealed the 3-2 home result for the Foxes in the five-goal thriller against Southampton on Saturday afternoon. The final goal followed two great strikes from Canadian forward Iain Hume.

Iain's third goal of the season and Leicester's first for the game came on 35 minutes, after a committed opening display from the home side. Despite the struggle, an equaliser was delivered by Jhon Viafara for the Saints during first half stoppage time.

What followed early in the second half was a flurry of goals as both sides competed for the advantage. Hume's equaliser came on 59 minutes, but seconds into the restart Inigo Idiakez netted another equaliser for the Saints to bring the score to 2-2.

A shot from Nils-Eric Johansson on 65 minutes bounced off the crossbar, but Stearman was on hand to head the ball into the goal under pressure, to net Leicester's first home win since Southend on August 26th.

The final minutes of the game were nail-biting after the Foxes were temporarily down to 9 men as McCarthy and McAuley were treated on the side-line for facial injuries, picked up from a messy header to clear the ball from their area minutes earlier.

The home side also saw through seven minutes of stoppage time, and the win takes them up to 16th on the table. They next face Leeds at Elland Road on Tuesday night.

Patrick Kisnorbo1/10/06 - BIRMINGHAM CITY 1 - 1 LEICESTER CITY

Leicester have come away from their away fixture against the relegated Birmingham City with a hard-earned point.

A cruel goal which highlighted the shortcomings of Leicester's midfield looked set to seal City to another defeat, but a shot by Elvis Hammond in the dying minutes of the game lifted the Foxes' and the fans' spirits, and earned the club the much needed point from the 1-1 result.

Leicester started the first half the stronger side, with a few goal attempts on target, but few with enough power to rattle the home side. Birmingham's Dudley Campbell and Gary McSheffrey were active up front, and could have netted their team several goals but not for the consistent heroic efforts of Leicester keeper Conrad Logan.

However after the break Leicester began to look shaky, and former Coventry player McSheffrey capitalised on a ball lost by Stephen Hughes on 58 minutes, scoring the opener for the home side.

Elvis Hammond was brought on for Chris O'Grady on 59 minutes, Porter for Tiatto on 65 and Williams for Johnson on 71 as Kelly looked for the firepower to turn the game around.

The remaining half was hard fought and Leicester looked consigned to a defeat as no openings looked to be made, but a free dash by Josh Low on 86 minutes saw his cross received by Hammond, and netted for Elvis' first Championship goal of the season.

The draw lifts Leicester to 19th on the table, and gives Cardiff 5 pts breathing space at the top of the table, who beat Wolves 4-0 at home.

The Foxes next face the Saints at home on Saturday 14th October.

Leicester: Logan, Kenton, McCarthy (c), McAuley, Johansson, Low, Johnson (Williams 71'), Hughes, Tiatto (Porter 65'), O'Grady (Hammond 58'), Hume.
Not used: Henderson, Stearman.

Birmingham: Taylor, Kelly, Tebily, Jaidi, Sadler, Larsson, Muamba, Nafti (c) (Danns 88'), McSheffrey, Campbell (Jerome 63'), Bendtner (Forssell 82').
Not used: Doyle, Kilkenny.

Yellow cards:
Leicester: Logan (41'), McCarthy (68'), Hughes (69')
Birmingham: Nafti (34'), McSheffrey (80')

Referee: Steve Bennett (Kent)

Attendance: 18,002

Patrick Kisnorbo26/9/06 - TRIO ON STANDBY

Official site

Three members of the Leicester City squad have been placed on standby for their respective nations for the forthcoming round of international fixtures.

Both Patrick Kisnorbo and Paul Henderson will have to wait to find out whether they have won a place in the Australia squad after the initial draft was announced for their games against Paraguay on October 7 and Bahrain the following Wednesday.

Read it here - registration is required to read articles on the official Leicester site, but this is free and easy.

Many Australian Foxes and Socceroos fans in general would have been disappointed with Paddy K not being brought off the bench in Australia's 2-0 defeat by Kuwait, so let's hope we see some of his talents displayed against Bahrain!
