Young Labor Action - A message from the Convenor

The Australian Labor Party is the only political force in Australia that has the determination and ability to govern for the benefit of everyone in the community. The Labor Party is an inclusive and driven team of hard working people at all levels, from local branch and union members to parliamentarians, and everyone in between. Involvement in the ALP at a young age is a great way to participate in our nation’s democratic processes; each member has the ability and the opportunity to make a real difference.

Our aim is to provide young people with active, ‘hands on’ participation in the labour movement. Victorian Young Labor Action actively engages in grass-roots politics, from campaigning to elect Labor governments to participating in industrial relations rallies.

Our commitment to deliver a socially just, equal and fair society is only reinforced by the fact that the Liberals want to destroy the labour movement.

Getting involved with the Labor Party at a young age demonstrates a passion to make a difference in our community. As well as providing a forum for us to voice and debate ideas and policies, we also host a variety of social events for all of us to have the opportunity to interact with other like-minded people.

This website is a means to provide information about who we are, and to give people a way to contact us and make the most of their involvement in the ALP.

With regular events taking place throughout the year, we endeavour to provide young people with the skills and experience to help further their activism in the Labor Party.

Involvement in Young Labor Action has provided the building blocks for many people to go on to become policy and media advisors, trade union activists, leading election campaigners and even parliamentarians.
